Artist Statement
​
I work with surfaces, layers, and scars, waiting to reproduce a piece that has aged. It is out of those scars that figures emerge. My work fuses and expresses the anxieties and passions of human emotion through lines, textures, and surfaces.I abandon the formality of traditional painting and explore new possibilities in the creation of my pieces. Working in oil, acrylic, and mixed media, I use texture as form and juxtapose surfaces, colors, and materials,

allowing paintings to be both functional and enigmatic. My paintings evolve from my earlier works, embodying the theme:"It is not possible to make life less interesting than fantasy. I paint for those who cannot express this."The concept of becoming and continuing is expressed through the treatment of space or the lack of limits. An expression that can be continued...
Artist Bio

Rene O. Gonzalez was born in Bogotá, Colombia. He earned his B.A. and M.F.A. in Illustration and Painting from the Savannah College of Art & Design and also studied at the Art Students’ League in New York, NY. His work has been featured in numerous shows, catalogs, and magazines.
